Excellent,
Sounds like a plan!
Speaking about duty, I saw this 16mm Bolex camera on ebay selling in the US, and it's going for pretty cheap.
Would the tax duty be charged on what I paid to the seller? or what the duty people think it's worth?
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks
Jeffery

Assuming the country you're referring to is the USA, you can get it processed at Yale and at Pro8mm. I'm sure there are other labs, but I know these two will do it.

So are we talking about super 8 or 16mm 200 negative for your project? If we're talking about 16mm, then I think the 200 makes sense. But if the intent is to use super 8 and not have it LOOK like super 8, then the one thing that nobody on this thread has told you is that 200 neg is unbelievably grainy in 8mm compared to 16mm.
It looks really interesting and has its place but you should really run a test before doing your project. Most super 8 users I've talked to accustomed to the grainless look of K40 are horrified the first time they use even 50 asa negative due to the increase in grain. The 200 neg is like a swarm of gnats, compared to K40.
Beyond that, I agree that negative gives a more "now" feeling than the "then" feeling you get from any reversal. But I also think that reversal, which shares a similar contrast and projection density as a print from a negative, also provides an inherent "theatrical" look to a given project; as if you were seeing a final print from your efforts as opposed to a telecine transfer from a negative where no print was ever struck from your original. Totally asthetic difference, to be sure, but one that can work for you depending on what you are doing.

Hmm..
Yah, I should compare and contrast.
This is for a super 8 project.
Thanks
Jeffery
